Anubias nana mini
The Mini Anubias is relatively new in trade. Allegedly it stays smaller than Anubias barteri var. nana 'Petite' ('Bonsai'), however we have noticed that this is not the case. Its tapered, narrowly ovate leaf blades get about 4 cm long, so the "Mini-Nana" is still considerably smaller than normal Anubias barteri var. nana. It resembles the selection "Paxing" but differs by somewhat broader leaves.
Anubias barteri var. nana 'Mini' is as robust and easy to care for as other Anubias barteri forms. It grows under very low light (0.25 watts per litre and less) as well as under strong lights (1 watts per litre and more). It doesn't need the addition of CO2, however, it can be beneficial for growth nonetheless. The Mini Anubias is popular in aquascaping, as it is one of the most beautiful epiphytic plants for decorating the hardscape (driftwood, rocks). It can also be planted into the substrate (do not cover the rhizome!).
For a long time there has a myth been going around that anubias (when pruned or cut) would be poisonous to shrimp and other inverts. This is NOT true and anubias are perfect plants for your shrimp tank and 100% safe.
