Deliveries to Northern Ireland (NI Protocol)

The transition period after leaving the European Union will come to an end on 31/12/2020 at 23:00. At this time a new Northern Ireland Protocol will come into force, which demands customs declarations of all goods entering Northern Ireland from Great Britain. This is independent of any outcome of the current trade negotiations.

At the time of writing this article (20/12/20), the UK Government has still not clarified the customs declaration requirements for parcels sent between Great Britain and Northern Ireland to private end customers. This has caused the first carriers to suspend parcel deliveries from Great Britain to Northern Ireland until a time this has been clarified.

Customs declarations are complex and have to be supplied electronically with full documentation of the goods shipped. Even with the new UK Trader Scheme, which opened applications this week, the process is not 100% straight forward just yet.

Due to this Pro Shrimp will temporarily suspend all deliveries to addresses in Northern Ireland. Please be assured that we are working with our carriers and shipping partners to get this resolved as soon as possible.

COVID-19 & Service Update:

We are currently experiencing high demand and an unusual amount of orders. We would like to advise the following points:

  • - Please allow additional time for any customer service requests. We are unable to take calls at this time, please open a ticket via our support system or email: [email protected]
  • - Our same day dispatch cut off time has been changed to 12.00 NOON
  • - All carriers are working as expected at this time. We are starting to see a few delays on our Royal Mail services (especially economy options), please allow a couple of extra days for delivery on those.
Covid-19 Update (23/10/2020)
We would like to give you a quick update about the current situation.
Walk-in shop
Our shop will be staying closed to the public for the coming weeks. In July, we will assess the situation and are currently planning additional measures to allow a limited collection/pick up service. In the interest of our staff and customers we are feeling it is not safe to reopen to the public at this stage while maintaining adequate social distancing with customers in the shop during normal operation.
Livestock shipping
Are currently limited and conditions have changed. Please see our Livestock Shipping page for details!
Deliveries and carriers
Standard and especially economy services supplied by Royal Mail are still showing a high number of delays. Especially economy shipments handed over on Mondays and Tuesdays are showing regular delays. Our courier services are returning to the usual delivery times, so we are advising to use these, especially for time sensitive goods and live plants.
Support & Customer Service
We are still experiencing a high number of orders and customer requests and would kindly ask to limit your requests to email and support tickets via our support system.

Shipments and returns


Orders are generally despatched on the same day as long as we receive your order before 12.00 noon Mondays to Fridays (excluding bank holidays). This does not apply to livestock!

We offer a range of shipping options including Royal Mail 1st Class and next day delivery via Courier (as long as we receive your order before 12.00). Shipping starts at £2.99 depending on weight and chosen courier. Live Shrimp are shipped via Royal Mail Special Delivery or APC Overnight. Free shipping over £39 (except livestock, heavy items and courier shipments to Northern Ireland, Scottish Highlands or Islands).

Next Day Delivery

We are now offering the option of next working day service via one of our couriers (UK Mail / DHL or APC Overnight). Despatch days Monday - Friday excluding bank holidays, cut off time 12.00 noon). Deliveries between Monday - Friday (excluding bank holidays).

Please note: items showing a specific shipping time (for example "ships within 2-3 business days"), will still be delayed by this time frame before being despatched. Items showing as "in stock", will be shipped out on the same working day as long as the order is placed before 3pm.

Live Shrimp & Snails

We had to change how we ship livestock (shrimp and snails). We are currently not offering fixed or nominated shipping or delivery days and shipping capacity has been limited. Please see details here:

We have a death on arrival policy. We will refund or replace shrimp, that have died during transport. In case of a claim, we ask the customer to supply photo evidence (shrimp in and out of transport bag plus photos of the box in case of damage to the package) within an hour of arrival.

Live Plants & Shrimp

The buyer accepts full responsibility for plant orders shipped outside of the UK & Ireland. We cannot be held responsible for damages caused by long transit time or delays caused by customs. This only affects live plants; all other goods are exempt from the clause and you are fully protected against damages during transit.

We do not ship live shrimp outside the United Kingdom. We are not responsible for import tax and duties. Furthermore, we cannot take responsibility for lost goods at border control. Please make sure that all goods you order can be legally imported into your country of residence.
